Astrological Weaving

Driftwood, dried seaweeds, wool, peapods, shells, waxed polyester cord and yarn

A distinct sunrise is the elemental character of this sculpture.  Alternating seaweeds and driftwood construct the circular frame. Sage branches from Mount Shasta, originating from a dried sea plant, drape over the ‘sky’ of the composition.  The ‘rays’ of the sun are alternating peapods and shells sewn in to a felt background and originate from the silver sequence ‘sun.’ A skyline appears through the midline and seaweeds drift in the woven ‘sea’ beneath the horizon line.

Story

As I was creating this piece, a realization came to me that this was my astrological birth chart.  I was looking at my chart a lot during the time this piece was being crafted and my subconscious working with this soul chart had appeared through the inner workings of my hands.  This exact piece is not for sale but it is an example of a service that I offer.
